Zaragoza, February 2026 — The 1st MAPFRE Economy and Wealth Management Forum brought together investors, business leaders and financial advisory professionals at the Gran Hotel de Zaragoza on 2 February. The event, organised by Mapfre Gestión Patrimonial —the group's financial advisory unit, present in fifteen Spanish cities—, arrived in Zaragoza for the first time after previous editions in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Bilbao, and also served to present the firm's new office on Plaza de Aragón. The institutional opening was given by Carlos Gimeno, councillor for Economy, Digital Transformation and Transparency at Zaragoza City Council, and Alberto Pérez, director of Mapfre Gestión Patrimonial in Aragon, with Vicente Varó, managing director of Finect, hosting the day.
Aragon, beyond data centres
Overlord Gestión took part in the round table "Beyond investment in data centres. Other lines of economic growth in Aragon" —the longest slot on the programme, at forty minutes—, which brought together Íñigo Muñoz, the firm's Head of Investments, with Miguel Marzo, president of CEOE Aragón, and José Luis Pérez, president of ICT Ibérica. The discussion reviewed the region's strengths beyond the roll-out of data centres —industry, automotive, agri-food and logistics— as well as its pending tasks: improving productivity, streamlining administrative processes and, above all, training and retaining talent, particularly in digitalisation and artificial intelligence.
The city is familiar ground for the firm: Overlord operates in Zaragoza through Cesaraugusta Prime, its second income-asset vehicle, focused on prime retail units in the city, and last November it organised at the same Gran Hotel a session on investing in equities and real estate.
Wealth management and geopolitical risk
The Aragon panel was preceded by the conversation "From product to service: the New Era of wealth management", in which Vicente Varó interviewed Juan Bernal, Chief Investment Officer of Mapfre, and followed by the debate "Implications of geopolitical risk for investors", with Javier Mallo, Managing Director and Head of the Iberia Client Group at Neuberger Berman; Javier García, Head of Iberia at BlackRock; and Ismael García, Deputy Director of Investment Strategy at Mapfre AM. Luis Carlos Tortajada, regional director of Mapfre in Aragon, closed a two-hour morning session that ended with a cocktail reception for speakers and attendees.
The full report on the event is available in Heraldo de Aragón (in Spanish).
